Thanks for the lesson on pronouncing Stiefvater. I was a little confused.

I found it interesting that the teacher didn't stop the students asking those questions, in fact she asked questions herself!

QOTD: I don't really have a preference, but I think that's because growing up I used to read so many books that I never thought about it. My sister and I could go through about 10 books the size of Shiver a week, so we would read almost everything we could get our hands on. At 10 years old the librarians wouldn't let us read adult fiction, but by the time we were 12 we were allowed to read some selected authors.

    Great vid Kaleb! :D
    Mr Safety has spoken!
I don't mind if the character is like me, as long as they're entertaining.
The white she-wolf owns all XD
  • I prefer a character to be like me with a hyped up need for adventure. I find it easier to get lost into the role of the character as well as the story when I feel a connection.

    LOL!! Steve + Otter--- LOL!!!
  • Kaleb, it really depends on the type of book I'm reading on whether i want to relate or it be really different. :)

I like characters who are totally different from me. My life is so boring it is not even funny.
  • I prefer reading books with the protagonast's life being different than mine because if it is similar, you'll just be like "been there, done that." but when it's different, you'll be more amazed, and you'll want to learn more about this person. Or otherwise, you'd be saying, "Dang. This kid's got some prrblems..."

Hola Kaleb and mysterious comment readers!
Great video, and I am also comforted at the fact that I was not the only one that found it funny that Grace noticed that one of the wolves had a runny eye. xD
I have been fascinated with wolves since I was a wee munchkin, and I am also known to be a bit reckless, but I don't think even I would get close enough to the mad-looking wolf who attacked me to see what condition his eye was in. (long sentence 0_o) Without a doubt, I would attempt to get close to any wolf and capture some sort of picture, but I don't know if I would go to terribly close to the crazy, mean looking one; not even considering the fact that if I was attacked by it.
    ANYWAYS.
After my little rant of minute details, off to the question of the day! I find I like both kinds of main characters- but to an extent. It's good to have some kind of difference between yourself and a character, but it is also fun to have something in common with a character, also. For example, I share Grace's blond hair, fascination with wolves, along with a few other variables. But I do not share her- what's the word? Willingness, maybe?- to be with a boy so much after so little and strange time of knowing him. But that's what keeps it interesting, isn't it? This otherworldly bond that these two characters seem to have for nearly no reason.
Bother, I grown off track. Anywho, I think it is good to have some similarities between yourself and a character, but I also find it fun to have some things that are different, too. : )

  • We loved the video-you are always so entertaining and get us laughing with you! Thanks! Yea, I was noticing that all the stories lately seem to have orphans or neglective parents--sadly, its a continuing trend with our society that unfortunately many can relate to...which bring me to your QOTD:

I prefer books that have both. It's always great to start a story that is relateable to you, to grab your attention, your feelings. It's then exciting to grow with them and see the world through a different perspective once you have already made the connection with them.

    Hey Kaleb!

AWSOME VID (as uaual) :D Yay!! First comment... I'm happy :P

    Anywhosers,
as for the question of the day; I don't really mind my characters being different or similar. I guess it depends. Sometimes I like reading books where I can relate myself to the characters and completely imagine myself in their situations... but then again, it's always MUCH MORE interesting to read about something interesting and new than something that you live with day-to-day. Don't you think?

This was hilarious! Thx for the new update... truly awsome vids :)
